“The children snorkelled for the entire afternoon”
We hired the boat for a full day with two children, eight and eleven, and I had braced myself for the usual are-we-there-yet routine. The masks came out at the first stop and that was the last we heard from them. Plenty of shade at the back for the two of us, which in August matters more than you would think.

Two teenagers who had decided in advance that they were going to be bored. Giuseppe let them take the wheel one at a time, explained where we were heading and why, and by the end they were the ones asking him questions about the reserve. A few notes for anyone still deciding. Bring a hat, there's shade but you'll want one anyway. Take the four hour option over the short one, the extra swim stop is where it gets good. And ask about Capo Gallo, we nearly skipped it and it turned out to be the best part of the day. Boat was spotless and the skipper actually knows the coast instead of reading off a script.
